I just want to comment on the story,“Few misconduct findings by Grand Junction police.”
What is “a few?” First of all, we have to keep in mind that this is an internal investigation. That is like me reviewing myself for a pay raise. Here are some points I would make: 99 citizen complaints over 17 months average 1 every 5 days! It is reported that only one percent of all calls resulted in citizen complaints or officer misconduct. Is one percent a low fraction? What if I crash my car one percent of the times I drive? If I drive twice each day I would have an accident every two months or less. I believe that the facts in your report reveal that the level misconduct is too high in the GJPD. |
