Grand Forks Airmen donate 12,000-plus volunteer hours, earn presidential award
Tech. Sgt. Jon Shumard hands a sandbag to the next position while Tech. Sgt. Kevin Schettler laps the sandbag in place along the Red River March 28, 2009, in south Grand Forks, N.D. He and other Airmen stacked sandbags to increase the dike to a height of 54 feet to mitigate flood damage.
