As a citizen of the United States, accompanied by countless residents of Maine, I wish to thank my state legislators for supporting strong public health laws in Maine which protect against toxic chemicals linked to rises in cancers and other serious health problems.

A fire that swept through a barn in the Maine town of Gouldsboro killed horses, sheep, pigs, calves and young ducklings and chickens, but no people were hurt.

Fire fighters from five coastal communities in Hancock and Washington Counties were on the scene in minutes, but were unable to save the livestock of a long standing Gouldsboro family farm.
