Police: Woman drowned in Lake George last week

Authorities say an autopsy has determined that a 31-year-old woman found dead in an Adirondack lake last week had drowned. The Washington County Sheriff's Office tells The Post-Star of Glens Falls that there were no indications that Xiang "Addison" Wang of Ticonderoga used drugs or alcohol before she died while swimming in Lake George.

Lake George program checks 16,888 boats

More than 1,000 boats were hot-water pressure-washed to keep invasive species out of Lake George in the first year of a new mandatory boat inspection program. The Glens Falls Post-Star reports that the inaugural year saw 16,888 boat inspections, with about 7 percent requiring decontamination, between May 15 and Aug. 31. Inspection records say aquatic species that had to be cleaned off boats included Eurasian watermilfoil, curly leaf pondweed, Asian clams, snails and water chestnuts.

An accused burglar who was carrying off a stolen chainsaw on his bicycle was arrested Friday by Warren County Sheriff's deputies. Peter M. Hughes, 62, of Glens Falls, was arrested in Jenkinsville Park in Queensbury by deputies responding to a burglary call from nearby Jenkinsville Road.
