Authorities made quick work of a larceny near Glendale Springs. On Oct. 11, a resident reported the theft of a 2001 Polaris 500 four-wheeler, with an estimated value of over $4,000. After reports of a vehicle seen in the area, deputies questioned and released a suspect.

The Florence Thomas Art School, which holds classes at a 10.3-acre campus near the Blue Ridge Parkway, will move to a new location in Ashe County and is offering its Glendale Springs campus for sale, trustees said today.

Heavy, slick snow came down so hard and fast at noontime on Tuesday that cars and trucks were sliding across and off the roads in and around Ashe County.
