The National Parks Service says endangered piping plover birds have established a nesting foothold in the Glen Arbor area of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

It's to take place Friday at the Dechow Farmstead just north of Glen Arbor in the northwest corner of Lower Michigan.

The 2012 Spring Sip & Savor on the Leelanau Peninsula wine trail will be this weekend, May 5 and 6. This annual celebration north of Traverse City features food and wine pairings at the 19 wineries along the trail.
