Jordanne M. Hollie, 19, Delphos, was treated at Salina Regional Health Center after a Honda ATV she was riding on struck an embankment and overturned on Victory Road about a mile west of 52nd Road in Ottawa County at 10:50 p.m. Friday.

Elizabeth Irene Turnbough, of Glasco, Kan., and former longtime resident of Rifle, Colo., was born June 9, 1936 and called home March 5, 2012.

Middle school students across Kansas are being encouraged to learn more about their history and communities by searching local cemeteries for the graves of Civil War veterans.

Now, more than a century and a half after the war's start, students in Kansas are being urged to track down details on those war veterans.

A statewide history project aims to bring communities and schools together by having students research Civil War veterans buried in their local cemeteries.
