Gitano resident Rosetta Scott was named "Tutor of the Year" at a Tutor/Council Appreciation Luncheon sponsored by the Pine Belt Education Center Monday.

At least two decades before Tiny Tim made his pop recording of 'Tip Toe Through The Tulips,' my third-grade dance troupe at Gitano Grammar School in Jones County performed a grandly staged dance to this depression era tune on the night of the school's eighth-grade graduation.

Miss Berthena Pennington, my first-grade teacher at Gitano Grammar School in Jones County, had a music box shaped like a carousel which she played for us on our birthdays.
