LOL...if they didn't raise the tolls they were heading for default on the bond payments and then the bond holders or the courts would have mandated an increase to make the bond payments. I can't wait to see Moore getting arrested if he follows through with his threat.

Southern WV lawmakers just need to push for a tax credit on the toll prices for instate residents. Problem solved.

i dont think that bond holders can force the state of WV to do anything except pay the money they owe and the courts already voted against a toll increase and i hope they do again in the near future. Why is it all of sudden that the turnpike is in trouble. I travel that road alot and i havent noticed any decrease in traffic. I say its mismanagement of funds but here again the actual/factual numbers arent posted so the public can see that its all lies!!! Even if they are on the verge of defaulting on pymts the state of WV has a $450 million dollar rainy day fund and just ended the physical year in the black by over $2 million dollars. Put this money to use for what is needed instead of it being divided up amongst agencies that dont need it or will pay it out for expense accounts, lawsuits by drivers of state vehicles, sexual harrassment suits brought by employees against their superiors, flat screen tv's that werent needed (at least not all of them), and the part that will just disappear into "thin air" aka someones pocket by either bonuses or outright theft. As you can see i am very opinionated as well and from the partiality you show to these ppl who are ripping us off sort of makes you sound like one of them!!!

I love my country but I question my government all the time. But there is a difference in being a realist and siding with the turnpike. Do I like paying the tolls? NO. Do I think they should be raised? Yes.

Someone other than myself would have to research it but I am not sure that the way the turnpike is set up financially that the state can just dip into general revenue and give it to the turnpike. I just don't know the answer to that. For instance, the WVDOH has to operate on gas sales tax and other sources of funding but they are not included in the general revenue. People just need to relax. 75 cents is not the end of the world. It's a lot cheaper than the $3.75 I have to pay to the Beckley Sanitary board for storm water runoff. Talk about a bunch of BS worth bitching about...

please validate your reasonings. tax revenue of all sorts is divided up between all state agencies along with federal monies. WVDOH does not sustain itself with gas taxes alone. And if there is a law from preventing the governor in spending OUR tax money where it is needed then something is seriously wrong with this state. But yet he can speak of buying a new jet with OUR money. And where do think that will come from!?!?!? If the truth be told he probably already bought a new jet and the news media is too stupid to report it. they just sit around by the fax machine waiting on prepared statements and then read it verbatum and never do any follow-up. They are too afraid to question anything our government does or corporations for that matter. But you can report this...I dont like the tolls and i dont think an increase is the answer b/c they will mismanage and misappropriate any new revenue as they have evidently done in the past. I do not feel sympathy for the parkways authority b/c you shouldnt wait til you are in dire straits then try to correct the problem overnight. If Greg Barr was a CEO of a corporation he would have been fired/arrested for his lies and wrongdoings. I want someone to come out and publicly apologize to the citizens of WV for not using the federal tax dollars they received for years and years that were intended for the upkeep of the WV turnpike and they purposely misused these funds for other projects and now that they are in trouble they want Southern WV'ians to bail them out. I say NO this time!!! How can you (the governor) say you didnt know anything about $10 million dollars or for how long this had been going on and not even have the balls to say " I will get to the bottom of this". He didnt say that b/c he was lying as he spoke and he knew that no one would question it. Come on ppl its $10 million over the course of many years. And you expect us to buy that....well i AintBuyinIt!!!

Seriously, I understand the frustration you have but you have to be realistic too. I am sure they have mismanaged funding, what government agency hasn't at some point. But the facts still remain that if something isn't done, either increased tolls or higher gas sales tax, the turnpike will get worse. Alot of your frustration seems to steer toward the current administration and I am all with you there. Everyone forgets that one of the first things the governor did was take the state plane down south with a convicted felon and 2 other people to purchase a boat with them. Sad.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Gemini

If you're currently keeping something secret it will really start to prey on your mind today and you'll worry about blurting it out at the wrong moment. It's one of those days in which you're absent-minded and completely wrapped up in your own thoughts. As a result, it will be hard to concentrate on anything else and this won't go down well in certain quarters.
