An early Wednesday morning wreck on state Highway 35 near Rockport killed three people, including two men form Port Lavaca, A Ford pickup driven by Travis Threadgill, 40, of Rockport was traveling north on the highway a short time after 7 a.m. A Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by Riley Holladay, 18, of Port Lavaca, was southbound.

The collision was at 7:18 a.m., and the highway in Aransas County has been closed, state transportation officials said.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for most of the Permian Basin and West Texas.
