WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET THINGS RIGHT IN WINDOW ROCK!!!! Do you know how embarrassing this is to see on the front page of the newspaper?! Didn't your grandparents ever tell you that money is the evil of all things. Money will not make you happy, it will destroy you!! PLEASE GET YOUR ACTS TOGETHER!!! And lead us like you promised us when you threw you hat into the Presidential race, MR. SHIRLEY!!! That goes for all Council Delegates,TOO!! Whatever happened to "we're doing this for our people." What more do you want the Dine people to say to get things right!

The action of Tribal Council is in retaliation and massive sabotage of the upcoming Referendum to reduce the Navajo Council from 88 to 24. We know the motives of the Council to seek and destroy the voting power of the Navajo people, that is to maintain their current spending and power-grab. In actuality, the Navajo Council should be investigated for continuing to misappropriate the Navajo people's money. Misappropriations consist of: descretionary funds for their relatives, raiding and depleting savings and tribal employees' accounts, excessive travels to Las Vegas and other cities with nothing to show for, adultery and domestic violence by the council members, fraud and perjury under oath, etc. etc.
The plan to vote on the Reduction of Navajo Council should continue regardless of the circumstances, because the present day system of legislation is not working and tempory. A permanent government is needed with leadership with integrity, honesty, contituent-oriented, and fiduciary responsibility. It is time to Reduce the Council and reform the entire Navajo Nation, beginning with the Navajo Council. If you reform the government starting at the bottom, the present council will make a mockery out of it, so it better to begin with reduction of the Legislature, who in turn, will take the ball the run with it.

What a bunch of idiots who finally decided to do their jobs amist the upcoming council reduction election. Their jobs are threatened now they feel the need to protect the interest of the Navajo people. Too late, most of them how voted in favor for this legistation have no leadership skills and need to be removed. This also reinforces the need to reduce the number of representatives that we have in Window Rock. Maybe with having only 24 council delegates, things will go a lot smoother with the Navajo government!!!!

The council is just mad that their going to lose their cushy jobs. They should investigate their own..with all the discretionary cash being misused. Everyone knows how crooked these guys and girls are. Delegates going to meetings for 5 to 10 minutes and picking up their per diems - over and over again. Hanky panky all over the place...everyone knows the truth and yet they seem to think know one knows. Just ridiculous. Unfortunately, nothing will change until the younger, educated Navajos take charge and are held accountable. Until then....Nothing will change.

The Navajo Council should be congratulated that they are beginning to understand ethics. Now that they are Justice incarnate here are some other suggestions for investigation: 1.)$50k gold rings 2.)Hawaiian vacations paid for by the Nation for Speaker Morgan and his boyfriend 3.)Delegate George Arthur's use of discretionary for former Judge Marcella King's children 4.)Discretionary help for Delegate Leonard Teller's daughter 5.) Delegate Phil Harrison's 4th DUI 6.)Delegate Willie Begay's 3rd DUI 7.)Improper use of the Speaker's gov't house for parties 8.)Delegate Leonard Chee's hotel parties with "male companions" 9.)Delegate Katherine Benally, who is on the Ec. Dev. Committee, and her assistance helping her son get gov't contracts 10.)Delegate George Arthur's improper push for a $9M Holiday Inn in Gallup actually only worth $1.7M 11.) Delegate Kee Yazzie Mann falling down drunk during Council session 12.)$41M of discretionary spending since 2004 by the Council 13.)Navajo Election Admnistration, which is under the speaker's office, trying to stall the upcoming Dec. 15th special election to reduce the Council 14.)Speaker Morgan hiding off-Nation to avoid prosecution of crimes 15.)Speaker Morgan getting into fights in the Council chamber bathrooms with other delegates.

That is a good place to start. Reduce the Council, let's help the legislature lose some weight

So Shirley's constituents from Chinle were right when they told me in 2002. During that time he was first running for office and a lot of the people said he's not going to help the nation he's in it for himself, family and relatives. Sure enough it is beginning to reveal itself.
Under his administration the tribe has lost so much money like the NHA fiasco, the poultry farm, BCDS, Boys & Girls Club, OnSat and probably countless others.
We need to do away with the chapter form of government and the three branch government. Each community should be change to townships- that's the only way anything will change.

Here we go again! NNC is digging a deeper hole for themselves to stay put. The Navajo people have a inherent right to decide what kind of government they want. NNC seems to forget this and seem to imply we have no rights as a people any more. IGR passed a resolution that supports the UN Declaration on Indigenous Rights and submitted a "Navajo" version of the OAS declaration to the Organization of American States, that clearly supports the inherent rights of its people. This is just another example of council's two faced, undermining and "coyoting" ploy to stay in power. They sure are an embarrassing bunch of inflated egos that need to be reminded about where the people stand on this issue. No wonder our talented and educated Navajos choose to work else where.

Whats news about this. An ordinary day in radical liberal democrat politics. It will always be this way in Navajo politics, no matter if the council is reduce to 24. Its sad to see this make the front page because we vote these people in. No wonder why we are a laughed at but its just a way of life now. I can hear all non Navajos laughing at us. Sad : (

All of you near chapters like George Arthur's San Juan need to go there and berate him for voting for the suspension of five top officials when nothing is done about council delegate's misuse and cover up of discretionary funds, including Arthur's own abuse/misuse itself!

The investigations found some laws were broken by the executive staff. Fire them, simple as that.

President Hale left office when he was found to have violated some laws.
Now, President Shirley and his VP might face the same decision. We'll see.

In the end, the NN Council will most likely be reduced to 24.
As for the "Line Item Veto", I would not give that to a President, just yet. Let's see how 24 Delegates work first. Then, a few years down the road we can re-visit the "Line Item Veto" topic.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Gemini

It's easy to become distracted and confused because your mind is wandering about in all sorts of different directions. You're also in a highly impressionable state so will believe almost anything you're told now, whether it's true or a total flight of fancy. Be wary of muddling others by only telling them half the story or letting your imagination fill in any gaps.
