Issue 3 backer tours area promoting Ohio casinos

Full story: Port Clinton News Herald

FREMONT -- Jeffrey Cohen says Issue 3 is not a cure-all. Cohen, chief executive officer of Rock Companies, one of the backers of the ballot initiative to bring casinos to Toledo, Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati , said the proposal would bring jobs to downtown areas in the four cities, first in construction and then in the casinos -- and ...

The Ohio income tax and the lottery were supposed to solve all of our problems, but we are worse off now than we were then. Gambling will make a lot of money for the mobsters behind it and no one else. Look at the state around us. They have gambling and are in a mess economically.7325

There are no mobsters behind Issue 3. Where did you get that idea? The owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers is going to build two of them. Penn National, which already owns racetracks in Ohio, is building the other two. Every state around us is prospering because of the casinos. The Ohio lottery is a joke, and the proposed amendment was written to not make the same mistake again as far as how the money is distributed to schools. Issue 3 is much different. The only area in a mess that has casinos is Detroit, but that's because they were still leaning too much on the auto industry.

I Studied Economics, and Casinos are a Bad Idea! The backers of this Issue #3, may have used the same Accounting Firm that the Insurance Industry used this week to Scare Americans about "Public Option!"

The States around Ohio are Hurting Worse Economically than Ohio!

The Figure of 34,000 Jobs is very Misleading!

I won't Go into the Religious Side, just plain sticking to the Factual Numbers!

At least the lottery makes low income people pay some tax. It has been proven the low income buy most of the scratch-off tickets. They also pay more tobacco and alcohol tax. It is somewhat refreshing to know they are made to contrbute some money. The progressive tax rates are something any good Marxist would agree with. I am shocked they do not charge a tax on NOT smoking and drinking.

I can't believe you will fall for the hype of a chosen few. There will be more jobs and more money in Ohio! Me and my friends won't have to go out of state anymore. If people want to go to a casino, the will and they have, traveled out of state to do so. I don't see it as a deterrent just because the casinos are out of state. Let's keep that money in Ohio.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Sagittarius

Slow down! You're trying to do too much and it's driving you - and everyone else - up the wall. What's more, if you're in too much of a hurry you'll start to become accident-prone and that will make you even more het up. Try to take any setbacks or domestic mishaps in your stride, otherwise you'll end the day feeling like a nervous wreck.
