I work for a fortune 500 company and used to be the administrative assistant for a vice president of a telecommunications company. There was a directive for the ceos and upper ranking executives to be knowledgeable about current technology and to use more technology in their jobs, instead of relying on the secretaries and administrative asssistants. Each CEO used to have his /her own assistant.. Those days are gone. Now one administrative assistant handles about 5 or 6 people, and her responsibilities are now ordering catering and reserving airline tickets. Even airline tickets can be ordered online within minutes. Gone are the days of being on the phone for hours making reservations. It was imperative at our company that each CEO knew how to use a cell phone, a blackberry, a pager, and the computer and the internet. This is a trend in industry. Perhaps local governments are still slow to catch up.. Clearly the legal industry is behind.. If anything most managers have secretaries and administrative assistant for helping with meetings and helping clients... Secretaries are a dying occupation.

From what we all know.. is that Mr. Pedersen is still practicing law and doing both jobs.. Mayor of Franklin Park and his law practice which is on Grand Avenue. I was under the impression Mr. Pedersen primarily practiced general law.. and did not specialize in Real Estate.. but maybe that is not accurate. Who knows the truth. Who knows what is accurate?

His job before mayor was his own real estate firm, He still works it but only part time after hours and on weekends. Yes he is still doing both jobs,He is a Full-time Mayor and a part time real estate attorney. He never said he was going to quit his real estate job.

HE's already done a much better job than Pritchett, Why is everyone trashing him? He's barely had time to do anything in FP but clean up after Pritchett. It's a joke people are jumping all over this guy for no good reason. Take it easy... It took Pritchett 15+ years to fuck up everything in this town and people STILL voted for him, Yet Pedersen has been in office for a couple of months and people are expecting miracles.

you are right.. it has become a sport to trash politicians..which is unfortunate. I am in agreement that so far Mr. Pedersen has accomplished a lot despite not having any money to do stuff. He has already replaced the 80 year old water main on Franklin, has made replacing inaccurate water meters a priority and has put in a water meter replacement system program in place, is pursuing implementing a new and improved website and is sorting out messy finances for FP.. since April.. I'd say that is a lot accomplished in a few months. You are right People do expect miracles. Oh.. also he had a town hall meeting.. which I do not remember Pritchett ever having.. I can see Mr. Pedersen is trying to find out where money is wasted.. he has gone after taking down those expensive rent a fences.. for example on Grand and Martens..Before you can do all these things, you need to get input and analyze accounts..before you know what you are doing. Also think of this.. the staff is probably not receptive with working with the new mayor since they still have allegiances to Pritchett.. So there is a lot to do and it seems that Mr. Pedersen has done a lot (that was possible to do) in a short time. You are right.. Give Mr. Pedersen a chance. It has not been a year yet. I am trying to remain positive.. because if you are not positive.. it will only be worse. Being negative does not accomplish anything.. but ill will.

What has Pedersen done except align people on a chessboard to be used for a means to his own end? The poor and gullible, the ignorant and the unsuspecting are nothing more than a cardboard backdrop for a news letter picture.
