Unmarked grave is now a historical marker
Most would likely say a man who lived 130 years, considered to be not only the last American slave to die, but also the last Civil War veteran should have earned a pretty significant grave marker.
Hate him or love him - and I go back and forth - David Frum's piece on Charles Murray's latest is one of the best things I've read in a while .
Forty years after his funeral, the tiny wooden stake that now marks the grave of Sylvester Magee of Columbia -- who many historians consider the last American slave -- will be replaced with a new headstone.
