Both fires were sparked by lightning. GLENWOOD, N.M. -- Lighter winds aided crews at a massive wildfire in southwestern New Mexico's Gila National Forest, but they still were unable to stop the blaze that has raged across more than 190 square miles of mountainous forest lands since last week.
Large Fire Burning Near Pueblo/Otero County Line
According to a Twitter feed maintained by La Junta Fire Chief Aaron Eveatt, the fire is burning in the Nepesta Road area, West of Fowler.

Evacuations have been requested in the Nepesta area as crews rush to extinguish a grass fire before it gets out of hand.
