On a 4-2 vote the City Council decided to stop advertising for proposals to privatize the city's public works department at their meeting Tuesday in City Hall.

A new $1.8 million Municipal Police and Court Building was described as something "long overdue for the city" by Mayor Tommy Fortenberry during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and an open house are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the new, $1.6 million Gautier Police and Court Building.
