You'll see plenty of this photo, the only authenticated one of Billy the Kid, in tonight's "American Experience: Billy the Kid," debuting at 8 p.m. today on PBS.

Billy the Kid, one of the West's most enduring legends, will be resurrected in a documentary film premiering today on the PBS television series "American Experience." The film is billed as a true story of the orphan teenager who became the most wanted man in the West.

Western history is filled with fascinating figures. But I'm curious about what likely became, and remains, the most famous gun in Western history, famous because it belonged to the gunslinging Western outlaw William Bonney.
