Guilty Plea in Raley's Fraud Case
Foresthill area resident Jason Allen Smith, 47, pleaded guilty recently to a conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud in a scheme to defraud Raley's Family of Fine Stores, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced.
Merced high school leader takes new job
Top-level administrator George Sziraki has been named superintendent of the Placer Union High School District in Auburn, effective July 1. Sziraki, now assistant superintendent for educational services and instructional improvement with the Merced Union High School District, will replace retiring Superintendent Dave Horsey.
