The Mayor and police department had better be careful for what they wish for or they may have to change the name of Folly Beach to "Ghost town Island!" We are in a full blown recession and take my word for it, the money will go elsewhere should they ban alcoholic beverages from the beach. If Folly wants to see empty bars, restaurants, hotels and vacant beach rentals houses everywhere, then it sounds like a good plan. Otherwise, I would suggest that you jail the problem people and let the law abiding ones enjoy the little freedom they have left in America.

I call BS.
Few of the daytrippers bring anything to Folly except trash that hte residents have to pay to clean up. Even the Beer they drop on the beach is bought in thier local piggly wiggly, not the one on Folly.

After they ban alcohol they can ban the ladys in bathsuits that way the lifeguards can get another quad runner and have the whole beach to race on

They ban alcohol but let dog owners walk their dogs on the beach and not pick up after em,,,if the people only knew what they are laying on,,,people dont even pick up after themself you think they will pick up after the dog? Maybe they can use the quad runner for pop control

Distraction.
Dogs are not beer cans.
But given the city council not one of them has the BALLS to ban alcohol on the beach. AND one has an economic interest to make Folly Beach into the next mini Myrtle Beach

Folly Beach is withouth a doubt the armpit of HELL
My family's first and last visit to the drunk tank. It's definately NOT a family oriented beach. My money would have been better spent contributing to the SC police dept. to control the yard apes that consume this area!!! yes, I've experienced hell on earth, it's located at east Ashley Ave. Folly Beach SC. Advertisement for you locals at this point: NOT TOO GOOD!
