I'm sure that Phil Fulmer is to blame for all this and actually paid for both the fishing trip and the laptop - HA!
Seems that I read in another article that Curtis Anderson said he was not even a "football fan". Do you know many people that aren't football fans that go to Fan's Day, regardless of the school?? I'm afraid there is more to this than meets the eye just yet. If it smells fishy, it's probably a fish. The Tide may be Rolling to the Probation Bowl once again once all the stones are unturned. Too bad, because if they would punish the PLAYERS, and not the University and fans, most of this would stop. JUST SAY NO!!! |

I think that football has to be removed from colleges and universities. Why can't colleges and universities be like investors in professional football and form a team and let's just call it "Smith University Tigers". Let them spend the money they are now spending and let them hire players that are college age but do not attend the college. That way, there will be no more controversy over academic eligibility; when they get caught in a hotel room with the wrong person, they can be back playing the next day just like in professional football and the players can be free to get paid for advertising or wearing a certain sneaker or whatever without any penalty. This way, the college or university can say they have a football team without having to be concerned about the direct association.

Isn't it funny hoe good ole Julio also came up with a few thousand to pay the restitution for his little book selling deal just a few days before Alabama's first game? Now I am pretty sure he did not find time between studies and football practice to make the kind of monet honestly...

Actually, unless the NCAA has changed their rules governing an athlete, they cannot hold a job, due mainly to the abuse of boosters and such. This rule has been in effect for a long time (i.e. I played Baseball in the 70's @ Ole Miss and we were not allowed to do so then). Personally I think the rule is a little too strict, but the capacity for severe abuse does exist. I would be surprised if they have laxed this rule.
