An Avondale felon who admitted to having someone illegally purchase an assault rifle for him has been sentenced to 50 months in federal prison, according to U.S. Attorney Jim Letten's office.

FLUKER, La. - Tangipahoa sheriff's deputies say an investigation into the shooting death of a 2-year-old boy has shown it was accidental.

An Avondale man and woman pleaded guilty on Wednesday to illegally obtaining firearms at a Kenner gun show and could face up to 15 years in prison.
