Sylvester Magee may have been the last living slave in America, and the oldest person who ever lived! Born a slave in North Carolina, he was the son of slaves named Ephraim and Jeanette, who worked on the J.J. Shanks plantation.

On Saturday, March 3, the Little Light House-Central Mississippi will hold their seventh annual Tea Party Fundraising Benefit at The Fairview Inn in Jackson from 2-4 p.m. Barbie Bassett will be the inspirational speaker, and a silent art auction and ladies hat competition also will be held.
