Rain and flash floods cause havoc across south Alabama
Business owners took a hit and schools closed Tuesday after flash floods dumped a foot of water in the Brewton area in a few hours Monday night, turning downtown streets into fast-moving torrents.
The floodwaters that covered parts of our region are subsiding almost as quickly as they arrived.
Flomaton Residents Brace For More Rain

Flomaton Dries Out After Drenching Rains
The town of Flomaton is also picking up and drying out from Mother Nature. Eight streets in the downtown area were closed down Tuesday afternoon after heavy rainfall.

Flooding in Escambia County, Alabama, reached the small town of Flomaton, where folks are having a hard time just getting in and out of town.
Parts of Flomaton are still underwater tonight.. Channel Three's Jake Peterson is at one intersection that's flooded Manning Boulevard and Pleasant Street.

They say the rain has caused widespread flooding and road closures. The Press-Register reports that Terry C. Wilhite, spokesman for the Baldwin County public schools, says classes will go on as scheduled Tuesday, but bus service may be curtailed in some areas.
