The coroner said Patrick E. Cavanaugh died from multiple blunt force injuries after he hit a tree head on.

In Blair County, 5,000 to 10,000 outages were reported in the Tyrone area, 500 to 2,000 in Bellwood; and 500 or fewer customers were affected in Altoona, Tipton, Warriors Mark and Smithmill, according to the utility's outage map on its website at 12:45 a.m. The website said the outage figures are based on customer calls.

Improved water and sewer service is coming to Reade and White townships by November 2012 but residents are worried about the price they'll pay to make it happen.
