It would be tough for any person that is the Mayor. With all the cut backs what else do you expect.

of Fitchburg whoever it may be. Needs to focus a balance of financial and civil duties. Too heavily on either side is a risk we cannot afford. May the next two years be that of more action than words. We seen great new developments in the business sector outside of main street, but not on main street.

Until the mayor, who ever it may be, uses a few thousand dollars for cameras in high risk areas downtown and reestablishes beat patrols. We will never see such business development in downtown. The Mayor should use some funds to attract franchise style businesses and small business owners with incentives for such growths.

Public Safety issues should never take a back seat to politics or for the future sake of grants. City rules and guidelines need to be established for the growing number of community groups that are being established in town for the sake of crime prevention. Proper training is needed to make sure good intended people know basic civil rights and mass laws pertaining to crime prevention in the state. Especially, Mass law 225, section two.

What we need is more accountability when it comes to public serving, both paid and or volunteering. Their should be monthly city hall meetings with the Mayor established, non formal, for public and business input, where issues and solutions can be brought forth.

Reconnect the general population with the infrastructure of City hall. Let City Hall truly serve the people the next two years!

Always Safety First!

Best Wishes from the Fitchburg Alliance for Public Safety Awareness group!

Mayor Wong is the first mayor who hasn't given away resources the city doesn't have.
Mayor Wong is the first mayor who hasn't given cars to employees. Mayor Wong is the first mayor to say to some city employees that they have to return vehicles.
Think about how many contracts were unsigned during the previous administration (8 out of 9). For how long? Three years. Those contracts have been dealt with and signed and the city moves on. Think about the rancor and resentment in the rank and file working for years with unsigned contracts. That is inexcusable and clearing a desk is the mark of a professional. Think about what you can do to improve the city. Go vote.

If you really think anyone else running has a chance of beating Wong, you are not going to be happy tomorrow. Our choices are a pizza maker who might be a nice guy – but certainly not competent enough to be Mayor, a last ditch effort by a slumlord - who if he really cared would have entered the race months ago and done it right, or someone who has made some very unpopular decisions - a lot of them, I don’t much like either - but she did dig us out of a massive financial hole in the middle of a recession. Personally, I’m writing in Anne DeMartino, but fully expect Wong will be in office at least one more term.

I'll be going to the polls today, checking in, and making my selections for the candidates I can vote for with a clean conscience. None of the Mayoral candidates will get my vote.

Crime has, is, and will continue to destroy this city. Wong hates the police and won't even talk with them. Her buddy the chief is just an empty suit.........I'm voting for the pizza guy. Wong is not motivated to fight crime.

The one thing she has not done is listened. Listened to the residents of their concerns throughout this city. She will never get my vote until she learns that very important people skill.

If she listened to the residents the city would be in a bigger financial hole than it already is.

Mayor Wong has been trying to do new, innovative things for the city, but has been held back from doing much by the City Council. Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with everything that she has done or tried to do, but two years isn't nearly enough time to pull a city that has been struggling for 20 years out of the hole.

If we have a revolving door for City Hall, nothing will ever get done! Mayor Wong has done more in her tenure than many others have tried doing - or NOT tried doing - to save the city. So, she's got my vote. I would like to see some of these plans implemented (if they can get through City Council).

Also, I agree wholeheartedly on the public saftey issue. We need to put more time and effort into fighting crime. I just hope that in this new term, Fitchburg will have the resources and foresight to do more in that area.

Although she has zero people skills and is very, very arrogant, she does have big ones.

What are some of her plans that you support that have failed to make it through the City Coucil?

Yeah, Lisa Wong lacks in people skills. Whatever.

This is the same state that was ruined by Irish gladhanders that remember your name, wink at you, drink a beer with you, chat with you - basically they have "people skills" up the wazoo. Howd' that work out?

Give me dour any day.

Donnelly stickers are showing up in the voting booths! Big violation! If you want a sticker you have to ask for one. The Donnelly people are not allowed to leave them in the booth! Also Annie (and I think George Sanders) was seen stopping traffic in the street in Ward 6 to hand out stickers. Yikes!

I think a better way to say this is "the Fitchburg PD is not motivated to fight crime".......

A good leader is someone who listens to both sides. All the residents are not the ones making these decisions it is our elected officials so don't blame the everyday residents for this mess.

Daily Horoscope for November 29

Scorpio

You need to take time out to spend with your partner today as he/she probably has something they need to share with you. If you don't take the time now, while empathetic Neptune is stimulated by the caring Moon, you'll find that tomorrow won't go very smoothly. Take this opportunity to work things out, even if it's the last thing you want to do today. A little sacrifice is called for.
