A call for Fitchburg's re-elected mayor to look in mirror

Full story: Sentinel & Enterprise

It is interesting to note that in just two years, the newly re-elected mayor has lost so much of her 75 percent margin won in 2007.

I could not agree with you more. She based her first election on transparency to have the residents think she was going to be so upfront with them but that couldn't have been farther from the truth. She doesn't give any thought to how her decisions will impact the residents a lot of whom have lived here their whole lives. All she cares about is HER vision on how SHE thinks this city should be. She is arrogant and as cold as ice.

Donelly could of probably beat her if he mounted a real campaign.

I think that a 60 percent majority with no campaign from the incumbent is pretty impressive. Did you receive a mailing from Lisa Wong? Did you see any campaigning? The city is still with the mayor and the dissenting vote was more anti-mayor than pro-Tom Donnelly, Fuzzy Voisine, or Mickey Mouse. This means the message from City Hall needs to be communicated more clearly. Improvements are happening in this city, and the city will save millions due to contracts renegotiated in the last two years (contracts that were left unsigned in the previous administration).
My preference is competence in the job, education and professional training. That's why my vote went for Lisa Wong.

Maybe Dorothea should run in the next election, and solve all of our problems. I"m sure the rest of the communities that are struggling could use her expertise.

The most telling aspect of the entire mayoral election season this years was the 'lack' of any legitimate opposition. For all of the back biting and criticism heaved at her from the chaep seats throughout the first term, where was the rush to replace her when the opportunity presented itself? There was nobody running against her '..apologies Fuzzy!' because it is a daunting and thankless job. We are lucky the Mayor has stayed focused throughout, with little to no popular support. It is clear that any of the other candidates in the race the first go around would not have had the stomach to roll up their sleeves and do the kind of hard work required.(...seeing Donnelly's feable write-in effort a week before the election, we need no further proof he is better left to peddling burgers and beer than tackling these trying fiscal times on behalf of a city in crisis!) Keep fighting the good fight Lisa, the city is behind you, and will be until somebody who might be a better candidate comes along. Not much chance of that in the near term, consider the floor yours!!

no one wants to be mayor of this town after WRONG, oops I mean WONG. She's destroyed this town, no one here wants to clean up her mess, especially with no budget. I mean anyone who has faith in this woman clearly hasn't driven down the road at night. Watch her face when she answers questions, you can tell she's lying through her teeth on certain questions, she's got a "tell" as they call it in poker. Her faces twitches and her eyes blink like an alarm clock after a power outage. This woman is looking for a state rep, position or something along those lines, she's using this town as a stepping stone and doesn't care how she leaves it behind, just so long as it gets her where she wants. I've met and conversed with this woman a few times, and sadly those are moments of my life I'll never get back, she has no moral fiber and no sense of what Fitchburg is, we're not the greatest town but this is where we live, our families have grown up, and future generations will be raised as well. I'd rather see an empty chair than that useless woman sitting in it. She wants to help the city budget then she should cut her pay. She's taking the pride out of being a resident here.

What would also be interesting to note Ms. Cassady is whether you voted for this mayor in the first place. Hate to get stereotypical but I'd bet a dozen donuts you voted for your good ol' boy Tommy, if anyone at all.

See as I've stated in prior posts, I think it is a notable accomplishment that a mayor who has made tons of unpopular choices, and technically had MORE opposition on the ballot this time around, not less, still got close to 60% of the vote.

It's about time that we had a mayor that made the unpopular decisions, rather than snowball us and entertain us with a jig, a smile and a brogue. Give me arrogant any day.

The criminals and losers took that pride away LONG ago, before Wong was even a teenager.

You people need to inform yourselves better. The mayor did cut her pay, she requested a 5 percent cut, the Council settled on 3. Did the Council cut their pay?
No.
The latest posts are weird and vindictive and you people have an ax to grind about matters far beyond who sits in the mayor's office. Your hostility is not helping the city, and it's probably raising your blood pressure. Sad.

Allz I know is that things would be much better had Brucie W. Marien or Ron Dionne been elected Mayor.

"She can make the distinctions she chooses as to how the budget should be cut in order to create a balance sheet that may look good on paper to the state but decimates the character, well-being, safety, and yes, even moral fiber and hope of the city."

Sounds to me like Dorothea is just mad about the streetlights.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Scorpio

Something that you've always taken for granted or believed implicitly could have a big question mark hanging over it during the next few weeks. The more entrenched your views are about this, the more difficult it will be to accept that perhaps it's time for a change of opinion or, at the very least, a revaluation of what you think. Mercury turns retro in your house of communications, so do your best to be open-minded now.
