All officials think it's someone else's job to inform water customers that the water may not be safe to drink. 911 says watch tv or listen to local radio--is this 1965??? If you're in a water district other than Somerset or Ferguson, call 911 right now, then every hour till the advisory is over. "is the xxxxx district still under a boil advisory? Is there a website where I can check status?" the answer is yes it is and no you can't. Just now they told me it could be another 24 hours. Is that what the water company thinks, or is that 911 saying quit calling? They've got a system to notify us when a storm is approaching (uh, thanks, there's an app for that!). Can they not use the same system to notify of water danger? Did you call 911 yet?

And on Monday, call your magistrate, your city councilor or commissioner, and your water company and ask them if they might consider onecallnow or similar provider to notify customers of future outages. The schools use it. 911 uses it. Or they can put in a hotline. Or they can use WKYT Snogo. Or they can do like PC schools with the snowplow, and slap in a different homepage when there's an advisory. Or some combination of the above. But they won't do squat unless the get calls from customers irate at being in the dark. Did you call 911 yet???

It's YOUR tax dollars and YOUR water bill dollars. I'm sure the front line people have had done some hard work since Thursday night, but the office people are the ones who failed to plan ahead for keeping customers in the loop, and they need to hear from you. Meantime put 911 on speed dial till the boil advisory is over.

Daily Horoscope for May 31

Cancer

There aren't too many obstacles today with other people or with yourself. The only downside could be that you spend too much money or think that you are right about absolutely everything. You will also be feeling rather retiring and not at all pushy for a few weeks. This is your time in the year to step back and take stock. Take time off if you can to recharge your batteries and if you can't, delegate. Let others do the running around.
