Getting your hands dirty at school may be an activity that would be discouraged by teachers most days, but students at Prairie Valley Elementary School embraced the opportunity to play in the dirt Tuesday morning.

Richard Black said he knew the killing frost was possible, even to be expected, but some part of him was hoping it wouldn't happen.

The Moose Lodge annual community Easter egg hunt will begin at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday at Dodger Stadium, with registration from 10:45 a.m. to noon.

Michael Schmit, 17, of Jefferson, died Sunday as a result of a two-vehicle accident near Farnhamville shortly before noon.

Glen C. Jochims, 88, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.
