Fire destroys ski lodge in Pa.
FARMINGTON, Pa. — Authorities say a massive fire has destroyed a ski lodge at a resort in southwestern Pennsylvania. The blaze ripped through the Mystic Mountain ski lodge at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington on Sunday night. Officials say more than a dozen fire departments from four counties responded to the fire, which broke out shortly after 8 p.m. The building collapsed completely about two hours after the fire was reported. Resort spokesman Jeff Nobers says the building was engulfed minutes after the blaze was first reported. Fire officials say strong winds fueled the flames and firefighters had trouble with fire hydrants because of the freezing temperatures. Employees inside the lodge made it out safely. One firefighter was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
