Ohio Secretary of State Certifies U.S. Senate Candidate Scott Rupert

This November, we Ohioans can make a choice we can be proud of, regardless of our party preference. A hometown, grassroots statesman from Mechanicsburg is challenging the status quo by running for U.S. Senate, as a non-party candidate.

His name is Scott A. Rupert. He’s a husband, a father and a grandfather. He’s also a small business owner, and he knows how hard it is to earn the money Congress spends. This self-employed car hauler is a real jack of all trades. As a carpenter, a mechanic, a welder and a plumber, he wastes no time sizing up a problem and fixing it using life skills and common sense. But there is one trait above all others that qualifies him for the job, a trait few politicians exhibit: Scott Rupert cherishes The U.S. Constitution. “We are protected by the Constitution, and we have to protect it from our legislators,” he says.

Scott believes common men and women are not only suited for high public office, but preferred over career politicians. “We are ruled by rich kids, when we were meant to be governed by our peers,” he explains. “I’m not bothered that the rich are rich; the point is our legislators have no idea what life is like for most of us, and it’s demonstrated in the laws they make.”

In only 55 days, the Rupert For Senate campaign collected 6,220 signatures on 457 ballot petitions with the aid of 40 volunteers (an abbreviated schedule made necessary by the May primary being moved up to March). Signatures were submitted on March 5th and 72 days later, on May 16th The Secretary of State responded by certifying Scott as an independent candidate for Ohio’s United States Senate.

Even the government knows a good man when it sees one.
