Validation of MSAD # 58 Budget Referendum was passed last night by the voters in the five district towns by a 2-1 margin.

Over 120 residents filled the Mt. Abram High School cafeteria last night and passed a $9.5 million MSAD #58 district budget.A The budget, which is down from the current year, will impact most of the district towns due to cuts in contributions from the state due to assessed valuations and a reduction in enrollment.

Although the proposed SAD 58 budget is 3.5 percent lower than last year's budget, the decline in the state's share of funding translates into a higher burden for taxpayers.

The SAD 58 board approved a $9.5 million budget Thursday night and nixed a proposal to contract adult education with Regional School Unit 9 in Farmington.
