I did vote and I agree that some important races were being held - but that isn't the reason I think people should vote. Voting is part of being a citizen. I realize that by not voting, people are effectively making their apathy known(in other words, that not voting is voting in a way) but the fact that the people who didn't vote are likely to be the first to complain about what those who were placed in office do, it's like locking the barn door after the horse has escaped.
To all of you who did vote - thanks for being good citizens. |

Sorry, I can't resist :) Honestly, I didn't vote yesterday. Who did I vote for? |
You couldn't resist telling everyone that you're a failure as a citizen, that you shirk your civic responsibilities, that you don't care what happens to your community? Why doesn't that surprise me? What you thereby voted for was for the failure of the America. Oh - don't get me wrong, the people who were put in office will probably not get it right, but when you don't vote, you're guaranteeing they won't. When you do vote, you're at least giving America a chance to succeed. In fact, by voting you are guaranteeing at least one aspect of America will succeed.

I totally disagree with you. The fact that the asshat didn't vote, is a good thing. The less morons that vote the better. |

I'm acknowledging your comment and thanking you for it, but I don't care to comment on it beyond noting that it would be more effective if you'd said "fewer" instead of "less."

Judged:
1 How on earth did Millcreek re-elect Mary Ann Rastatter to another term for the school board, when it was in the paper several times that she has been absent from meetings for months and has moved and now lives in an assisted living facility in North or South Carolina? Now that Figaski has been elected I am waiting for the lower water bill. This better happen once he takes office because I was told on my front porch by one of his campaigners that Curtis was the only obstacle to the deal with the City and that once Figaski won, he would make sure the switch was flipped to get us cheaper water. And I was told in response to my question that it was as simple as flipping a switch. And further that if Figasli were elected that would allow the Township to cut the deal with the city. Is that the same city that announced recently a 5-year plan of water rate hikes? Couldn't be or Figaski/Weber would make sure we knew this since they only have the taxpayers' best interest in mind. |

It would be even better if no moronic leftist trash ever voted. |
That's one point of view. The problem is - who gets to decide who gets to vote and who doesn't? First you exclude moronic leftist trash, then moronic not-so-leftist trash, then....
Honestly, I did vote for Obama though. |
They died for my right not to vote as much as the did for your right to vote. You would think a super-showy patriot such as your self would respect that. |
My goodness Wiff, aren't you afraid that if we don't vote that's just more time we can devote to giving partial birth abortions? |
Really? You could be right. Care to provide evidence of that unsubstantiated claim? I'd be curious as to what the opinion of the founding fathers would be of a citizen who neglected his civic duty.
You mean that people have died? |
So presumably I'm all these characterizations simply because I didn't vote. Yes, I see how thoughtless I've been. If I had only written in Mickey Mouse, I too could be a super-patriot. Oh well, I have big shoulders. I'll get over the disappointment somehow. |
I bet they'd be horrified to learn that people who don't own property voted; that you - A WOMAN - voted; and that not only did millions of African Americans cast their vote, but that the country elected a Black man to the highest office of the land. |
Mere unsubstantiated opinion |
Of course, you could try refuting what you call "these characterizations" instead of singing the "Boo Hoo, I'm a Victim" song. Aren't you one of the people who told me that the victim routine doesn't work?
The founding fathers were of the firmly decisive opinion that ONLY white male property owners had the right to vote. |
Thanks for the offer to supply evidence, but no thanks. I think it was "Told Ya So" that pointed to my interest in all things religious saying that I was a fanatic. But he doesn't know what he doen't know about it so he misses the fun. I know that any substantiation of my claim will lead for calls to substantiate my substantiation. It's like the Creationist model. They claim there's a "fossil gap" between a primitive type and a modern type. Then when a fossil is offered with characteristics of both types, suddenly there's two gaps! Between the primitive type and the middle form and between the middle form and the advanced form. It's like Barack said about voting on health care reform: The Republicans are going to attack us no matter how we vote. The main think though is that I want to get back to other conversations of ours and my plate is full with those. If you want to tout admiration for a child molester (Ben Franklin) be my guest. Meanwhile, I think some things are self evident. If I am a bad citizen based on not voting once, then I'm happy to be one. At least I am willing to accept the will of the majority unlike you and the rest of the racist Birthers. |

Yes, and it was white males who amended the constitution to give women the right to vote and it was white males who freed the slaves and gave blacks the right to vote. You're welcome. |
