If you want marijuana to be legalized, taxed, and regulated for adults, YOU can make it happen. Tell your legislators to support California Assembly Bill 390. It's easy. Visit yes390.org

The next logical step is that pot should be legal. Mexico just legalized possession of small amounts of all drugs. Switzerland just legalized heroin. Portugal decriminalized all drugs in 2001 and their experience has been positive. Now if you are caught with a 10 day supply of your drug or less you face an administrative court, not a criminal court, but in practice they are just not arresting people. A group of 10,000 very serious policemen, prosecutors, attorneys and citizens have formed a group to legalize ALL drugs, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (http://leap.cc ) They see what happened when we legalized alcohol in 1932 as a good example of how drug legalization would work. This foolish war on drugs has lasted 37 years and cost us over a TRILLION dollars and we are not an inch closer to stopping drugs. How many millions of Americans are we going to lock up in prison for decades? Mark Montgomery boboberg@nyc.rr.com

The people of California voted yes for medical marijuana. The feds and the city governments need to RESPECT the voice of the people. The US government has created the mess on the streets with making drugs illegal. Gangs are formed to protect the trade. Since drugs are illegal, the profit margin is huge. The war on drugs is the Americas civil war. How many more lives must be destroyed by this governments policies? How many more haliburtons and wackenhuts corps. need to make profits thru these insane policies?Does SB really need more cops on the streets throwing pot smokers in jail, at 55 an hour i dont think so.
When i look at all of the financial problems in california, why do they choose to cut education and healthcare but not cuts to the prison industrial system? Does anybody really feel safer...i dont. The prison/justice system are creating more criminals, by criminalizeing everything. I think the biggest problems we now face in this country is "The Police state". It is costing billions of dollars not to mention destroying families and destroying lives. by putting medical marijuana patients in the hell holes that are prisons in california. Stop the insanity, stop hiring( thugs) police and let people be. pot smokers hurt NO ONE. Many countries around the world have stopped this insane war on drugs, which is really a war on people. The local officials need to let go of their illusioned control and start working for the people, instead of opposing "The People" and the CHOICE they made.
Stop the war on drugs, empty out the prisons, start rehab services for members of YOUR community and STOP building more prisons for a out of control prison system. The war on drugs have corrupted the american justice system, and they did it to themselves.

Is i a coincidence that the two most corrupt counties in California joined forces to stop marijuana from being distributed to patients? A lot of show but mostly blow is what we get from our local politicos. We have a board of supervisors that makes indignant moral stands in public while ripping off constituents behind closed doors. Where did the budget to fight the voter's choice come from?

Yeah, because our country was founded on being ultra conservative law abiding citizens that just did what they were told.

What if lincoln 'just followed the law'?
What if MLK 'just followed the law'?
Rosa Parks?

Unjust laws need to be changed and locking people up for owning a PLANT is UNJUST.

Why are they "Behind Closed Doors meetings"? Will the police union and the police have access to "Their Decision? We really have to look at who will lose if the medical marijuana dispensieries are allowed to flourish. The police will lose, the prisons, the unconsistutional judges will lose. Oh, the justice system will lose OUR tax dollars. I dont think they deserve 1 more dime from the people, because they dont listen to us anyway. Make the meeting transparent, now! No more behind closed door deals!

OPEN the DOORS on this meeting!!!! this was the big mistake in the first place to close the doors and decide to SUE the state for Prop 215 that THE PEOPLE passed!! The People will not forget that you all CLOSED the DOORS on us and made a financially irresponsible/wasteful decision that The People ultimately PAID FOR.
if you continue to CLOSE the DOORS on us, we will take you OUT of your SEATS!

There's so many bigger issues to worry about right now, than whether an adult smokes a joint, perscription or non-perscription. Quit wasting my tax dollar on things that don't amount to a hill o' beans. Do I want kids smoking dope and skipping school? Absolutely not. Absolutely not. But if someone wants to catch a buzz in the privacy of their own home, I can not see where it's anyone else's business--especially the governments'.

To answer your question: The People will benefit the most. The People who benefit from legal medical cannabis will not have to go to the streets to get cannabis from drug dealers who could also potentially sell meth, heroin, crack, ecstasy, LSD, cocaine, etc etc etc (also effectively pulling dealers' financial plans out from under them)....potentially putting patients' lives in danger for a PLANT, all because the gov't thinks it has a right to "protect us from ourselves," even though, the fact of the matter is, any kind of prohibition of any substance just allows the Terrorism of both the gangs and the police to "flourish."

I believe that The People don't need Big Brother to take care of them: end prohibition NOW, transparently!!!

Sorry for any confusion over my first post. By asking for the "law" to be obeyed, I was referring to the Board of Supervisors, who have illegally defied the medical marijuana statute with a rogue action. Especially now, with their appeals exhausted, they should simply comply and issue the cards.

although the surpreme's courts decision is a great victory, i'd still proceed with much caution if living in san bernardino/san diego county.

i live in san bernardino county and was well aware my county did not support prop 215. thus, my doctor's clinic is in riverside country (where it is supported) and i get my meds in los angeles (where it is also supported). each time i get my meds i carry ALL my paperwork with me. in many cases, your paperwork will serve as evidence just like a county issued card if pulled over by law enforcement. the county issued cards just make the process a bit easier because when law enforcement within that county runs your licence the database will alway say you are approved for medical marijuana.

that being said, i still would not put trust in a county issued card from san bernardino county/san diego county. the debate on this is not over and i am very sure there will be major changes in the process of obtaining a card and meds as cities and counties want more of a unified direction. los angeles is dispensary capitol of the america and everyone is taking notice since l.a. had no solid process in place like oakland and san francisco. thus, l.a. has over 400 dispensaries vs. less than a dozen in oakland/sf. so, if these processes change, counties who initially did not support prop 215 with open hands are going to scrutinze every patient in their database. get a county issued card, the county has a record of you and all your information. given my county does not support it, i see that "county" card being a possible risk for monitoring and harassment that i don't want. for example, in cities with low crime the police may have a record of all patients in the city provided to them. they see a patient driving and they figure, let's pull the person over and check them out just for the heck of it. they see a bunch of cars in front of that person's house, they may assume everyone inside is smoking out ... anyway, hopefully you get what i mean.

just be cautious.... i still say go to counties to do your business where full support was initially given and forgo county issued cards for at least a year or so in counties who do not support it and see how everything pans out between those counties and patients who opt-in for that card first.

These 'supervisors' should be fired. They are not representing the citizens of the counties in which they are being paid. Imagin if citizens could use taxpayer money to fight laws they consider unjust.

Marijuana is harmless. No one ever died from an overdose and ithe plant has so many beneficial uses besides the medical aspects.

that is good news but, did the re-open with the "blessing" of pomona city council? remember, under current law they city has the "final" say on letting dispensaries operate.

i was under the impression when the pomona pd got involved due to high traffic complaints, the city did not approve dispensaries within their city limits. did this change?
