Officer Jacob Bettin says just before 3:00 Wednesday morning officers were called to the area of 18th and Emmet Street to investigate suspicious activity.

Signaling some unity in the Senate on fixing the "No Child Left Behind" law, two senators announced Monday an agreement to move forward on bipartisan legislation to overhaul a Martin Kloppenborg of Emmet, Neb., died when he was ejected from his 2002 Ford F-150 pickup three miles west of Gillette on Interstate 90 at about 5 a.m. Sunday.

Windows were broken, trees were shredded but no major injuries were reported after a day of severe storms in northern Nebraska.

A 19-year-old Neligh man died when his car collided with a semitrailer in north-central Nebraska, according to the Nebraska State Patrol says.

High winds and heavy rain have flooded roadways, toppled trees and knocked down power lines in northeast Nebraska.
