Foothills Theatre announces auditions for this summer's big musical production, "Kiss Me, Kate," on Sunday, June 8 at 2 p.m. and Monday, June 9 at 7 p.m. at Elkin High School's Dixon Auditorium.

This summer a cast of 30 will take the stage for Foothills Theatre's production of "Annie Get Your Gun" on July 20-22. This is the community theater group's 44th year bringing quality entertainment to Elkin and the surrounding community.

Trinity Christian Center is sponsoring a chicken dinner fundraiser for local teenager and cancer survivor, Anna Hicks, on Saturday from 3:30-6:30 p.m. The port-a-pit chicken dinner will be held at Main Street Learning Place at 217 E. Main Street in Elkin.

Dyer, an Elkin native, graduated from Auburn University in December 2011 with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
