I am extremely glad to hear that Mr. Hunt is filing a suit against the Police Dept. What the police get away with is unacceptable. It has nothing to do w/ getting sympathy or publicity, Mr. Pena. It is the
right thing to do. Get over yourself.
good for you Darren Hunt. Go For it!

I have met Hunt, he came across as rude and pompous.

He clearly baited the officer who was trying to prove he had a bigger set. That's all it was. Hunt should have been disclipined. He is now being an opportunist.

He belongs with a Tabloid.

You must be a friend or relative of Hunt, so the crap you wrote is understandable. I agree that the officer overstepped his authority, just as Hunt failed to comply with the officer. Does that translate into an almost half-million dollar slap against us tasxpayers? Hell no.
Hunt just needs to brush it off, enjoy his 15 minutes of national fame, and get back to reporting.

As usual asking money damages for not much more than an ego bruising seems excessive and punitive to everyone but himself. I do not know what Mr Hunt earns for a salary but he does have a job of what some would call prestige so I imagine he earns more than the average citizen. He should be suing for demanding changes, a 'checks and balances' program, additional preventive training for alleged abuses, or simply the discipling of the offending perpetrators if after an investigation should say that he was correct in the what had transpired. I don't truly have an answer but nearly a half-million dollars is not the solution. If he wins it will only prompt citizens to harass public servants, provoked or otherwise, for a quick lottery win. Police, Fire Fighters, Soldiers, Health Professionals, Educators and others I may have failed to mention do not deserve this.

I guess next time I get a ticket or a cop tells me something that I dont like, I'll just file a harrasment suit, too, for "sexual" harrasment. I guess everyone is trying to get rich by pulling out the gay card, the race card, and the "I'm on t.v so you can't touch me" card... Darren Hunt is an idiot, and as for his job being considered "prestigious", give me a break! Reporters aren't rich, people. Stupid people are getting away with this and us taxpayers are the ones that have to suffer the consequences.

Its not that the fact that this dumb mexican cop over reached his authority. It is that in el paso mezico, that is the state of affairs in regards to the el paso mezican police department. First of all they believe they have free reign of the town since most of the folk do not know any better. The eppd cannot investigate their way out of a wet paper bag and they are also related to the same criminals that run juarez. I think people should stand up to these corrupt vatos and make them pay for their sins. Those self serving pieces of mezco caca do not act for the benefit of the population. They act for the betterment of the masters they serve and their own corrupt mezco macho ego. Here is a real success story. From la bowie to the el paso police dept. That is just another reason why el paso sux.
