No major injuries were reported Wednesday morning after two vehicles collided head on in the El Nido area, spilling 300 gallons of ammonium phosphate in the road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Following a motion by Director Dave Long, and a second by Director Gino Pedretti, the Board voted unanimously to lift limits on water supplies to irrigators within Merced Irrigation District.

It was earlier this year when supervisorial candidate Daniel Varela Sr. met with incumbent Supervisor John Pedrozo at a restaurant to sip coffee and talk about this year's election.

The Sierra Nevada snowpack is still only about half of normal, and as dry times persist, so does the infighting over water.

Local farmers are calling on the Merced Irrigation District board of directors to stop an out-of-district sale and send the water their way.
