Suspect worked in youth agency
Jose M. Huertas-Aponte, the Easton man arrested a week ago on a warrant from Puerto Rico alleging that he sexually assaulted a boy in 2003, was employed as a caseworker for Northampton County's Children, Youth and Families Division when he was apprehended.
Huertas-Aponte, 53, of 103 E. Nesquehoning St., was arrested last Tuesday when county deputy sheriffs and U.S. marshals picked him up at his home, according to Lt. Richard Johnston of the sheriff's department. Huertas-Aponte remains in the county prison under $1 million bail. He waived extradition and is awaiting transportation to Puerto Rico.

It happened in 2003. There is absolutely no excuse for the County not finding out had they made an effort.

Like all county workers, he knew someone or was related to someone working for the county, and that's how he got the job.

The Express-Times also reported that he worked as a counselor at the Valley Counseling Group in Bethlehem and police are investing a separate incident at the counseling center.

How does this happen. This guy was working in a County Childrens Agency. Who will investigate this? The elected officials will just sweep it under the rug?
Unbelievable, I guess no one is responsible. The head of this thing should be investigated. |
You are extremely wrong. Not all county workers know someone who works for the county. He didn't and no one knew him. The incident may have happened in 2003, but he wasn't charged till recently. He wasn't in court when he was charged according to a PR newspaper. He may have known an investigation is going on, but nothing can be done, till he's charged. No one knows what the Agency did or didn't do or how he got hired. I'm sure that pretty soon we will find out. People do not know how difficult is is to hire and retain C&Y workers. The job is emotionally and physically draining. Underpaid, overworked and hated by everyone. And with the Hispanic population growing more everyday, there are not many Hispanic or American (bilinguals to do the job. |

let me tell you something i been appliying for a position and i have 3 years in experience in this campus bilingual and they did not give me the opportunity because i did not done my college, im fithing because people that did not diserve this positions have to do this did not understand the sistem????????
Uh, no...I am not wrong. I've applied for many county positions - Montco.,Lehigh, and Bucks. If you don't have any connections within, you're out of luck. I know many others who have applied as well. It doesn't matter what your credentials are or what experience you have. If you don't have someone on the inside, you're not getting the job. Period. |
You are right and Northampton County has gotten worse in the past few years. Since the paper stopped covering them they do what they want. |
You need to have a college degree. Experience is not enough. |
You may be applying to the wrong counties. When I was hired, I knew no one. I had just moved to the area. I had good reference letters from my prior employer and a good track record. If you are in the field, have had experience and are a hard worker, you become a jewel to the department. |
LOL!!!! |
Having a conversation with you in English must be like playing a game of Charades. The problem with you is that you're NOT bilingual. |

There is an update article on this government plunder in today's paper. But no comment section. WHY??
The MC is trying to protect the County Executive and the top officials who screwed up. They delibertly stopped any new comment section. This was a massive blunder and the paper wants to protect theior boy. |
And nobody wants to say if they investigated his background, someone knows him. But I digress, the county officials are very professional in their jobs, just like vulvano is in his job. Sometimes it doesn't matter what is in your portfoloio if somebody wants you hired. They will probably send him to vermont for his penalty phase. Where are all these slimey turds coming from?

Thanks, I didn't want to bust her bubble! If that's how she spells, I can't imagine how she speaks...Maybe she's missing the real reason why she's not being hired, maybe when she's "done college", she will be hired. |

There is no excuse for this county blunder. I wonder how many children he was inapproriate with or molested while working with this agency. Sick!
