Doo Dah Parade fever returns to East Pasadena
A wild group of roving cupcakes, a dinner party on wheels and crowd favorites such as the Country Gentlemen and the Disco Drill Team brought the weird and wonderful to East Pasadena on Saturday for the 35th Occasional Doo Dah Parade.
Take hundreds of the Pasadena area's most eccentric and fun-loving residents riding dozens of uniquely whimsical floats of their own creation, add a parade queen who calls herself Patrizzia Intergalactica and mix in freshly retired and fun-loving former city public information officer Ann Erdman as grand marshal, and you've got the recipe for fun ... All Saints Rector Ed Bacon named this year's 'Thorny Rose' recipient
For standing his Civic Center ground over a controversial church expansion, All Saints Rector Ed Bacon has been named this year's Thorny Rose, the Doo Dah Parade's annual nod to the biggest pain in the civic neck.
Proving the axiom, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again," Pasadena resident Dianne Patrizzi attained a major personal goal Sunday when she was crowned the 2012 Doo Dah Parade Queen at the American Legion hall in East Pasadena.
