The Town of Ithaca Planning Board Tuesday night unanimously approved the final site plan for the Belle Sherman Cottages project.

The EC&N connected Elmira to Cortland to Canastota to Camden before getting absorbed into the Lehigh Valley railroad, where it was a branch line of the Auburn Division, chronicled in Herbert Trice's The Gangly Country Cousin .

The Belle Sherman Cottages project moved one step closer to final approval, Town of Ithaca planning Director Susan Ritter said.

DRYDEN -- The Varna community has been abuzz with discussions about the future of the small hamlet close to Cornell University.

ITHACA -- The proposed development of 22 single-family houses and 10 townhouses on a 3-acre parcel in north Belle Sherman looks poised to proceed after the Town of Ithaca Planning Committee recommended the project be covered under a new planned development zone.
