City Fire Equipment, JCP&L making Morris County business news
<![CDATA[EAST HANOVER: City Fire Equipment Co. will hold a grand reopening of its on-site store on Dec. 6, beginning at 8 a.m. and running all day at the company's facility at 733 Ridgedale Ave. The Store at City Fire will allow homeowners and businesses to shop for fire safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and ladders at 20 percent discounts, according to a press release from the company, which said it closed last year due to damage caused by superstorm Sandy. City Fire was founded in 1952 by William J. Bretzger, a Newark firefighter who filled fire extinguishers for building owners in his garage at a time when fire safety was less codified then it is today. The company grew quietly, moving into sprinklers and fire suppression systems, fire alarms and emergency lighting. Food will be served, door prizes will be awarded, and there will be a grand prize of a 32-inch high definition television, the release said. MORRISTOWN: Jersey Central Power & Light vegetation management contractors are nearing completion of the company's 2013 program to trim 3,600 circuit miles across its 13-county service area. Crews have trimmed more than 3,200 miles throughout JCP&L's northern and central New Jersey service areas, according to a press release from JCP&L, which said that the work is done each year to help maintain proper clearances around electrical equipment and help protect against possible tree-related storm damage. JCP&L vegetation management work is being completed in the following Morris County municipalities this month and next: Dover, Jefferson, Long Hill, Parsippany and East Hanover.
