I got a ticket in East Windsor, by a West Windsor policeman.. saying that he pulled me in East Windsor because it took him that long to catch up with me.. and he knew "it must" be me because I was driving a Scion TC and you don't see many of those around. He also said he clocked me in a location... I hadn't even been.
In order to get this ticket dismissed, I still had to pay court costs... what a ripoff!
commit a violation in the town where the officer works, he may ticket you even if you drive out of the jurisdiction and get stopped in another...he can actually give you a ticket in another town if you commit the violation in another town, he would just have to issue you a ticket on an officer from that town's summons book....heres a hint, dont break the motor vehicle law and you wont get a ticket..the whole scion consppiracy theory sounds hokey...just dont break the law kiddo

Wow...it would have only cost me 400.00 to get a fender non-bender careless driving dropped from my driving record after 22 years of non accident driving, say so the prosecutor of Edison. I decided to pay the regular fine and take the 'hit', I do not like being bribed. Business as usual I guess.

As far as running a yellow light ticket...if your speeding up trying to beat it then yes, if you cannot safely come to a complete stop then no..sometimes that can be a spilt-second decision on the drivers part and on the cop that is watching part. To be safe I usually do not proceed into the intersection until the light is green for a few seconds...esp. on a road where the speed limit is 50 or more. Rt. 130 is a yellow light nightmare...look both ways before crossing that road!

Number One: The attorney general took away the prosecutor and police's decretion to give someone a break in court a few years ago. It was usually knocked down to a no point ticket and no other "hidden fees" had to be paid that added up to that $400.00. Now, people cant get a break in court without paying those "fees".(unless they didnt do anything wrong and are found not guilty)

Number two: The red/yellow light issue: Lights turn yellow before they are red. They are yellow for one second for every ten miles an hour the speed limit is. For example, if the speed limit is 45 miles per hour, the light is yellow for 4 and a half seconds.(Which is MORE than enough time to come to a safe stop) The only way someone runs the red light, is if they speed up,(which is careless in itself) or are NOT paying attention, which is ALSO careless. So, the excuse of not being able to come to a safe stop is true, HOWEVER, that is because they are A) either not paying attention till the last second or B) trying to beat the light (which as I mentioned before is CARELESS.

Hey, "Here's the Real Deal"...why don't you use your name when posting to show that you really stand behind what you post here...then I will take you seriously. YOU were not in the room with me that day when the 'deal' was being laid out and you have no idea what goes on behind closed doors.

I am AGREEING with you...it IS a SCAM...i guess you didnt get that....that came from the legislators....they changed the law...the prosecutors are only the medium in which the money is collected, BEFORE they changed the law, if you read my first post, you could have gotten a break and downgraded fine without the extra money added to the fine....legislators caught on to this "break" system and figured that the stat could cash in on this in the disguise of being stricter with the penalties, and only allowing 3 "unsafe driving" downgrades per driver, but with each adding that crap of a lump sum onto the fine without getting points...

The Real Deal IS...I am Max'd out with the system right now. I had the MISFORTUNE of dealing with a lazy-ass prosecutor who really needs to take a break from his crappy job, it is like a production line in that place, get em in and get em out...inbetween those taxpaying citizens waiting in line for over an hour let those 'special traffic attorneys' cut in and take care of their business frustrating everyone further. Then when its your turn you have the pleasure of being talked down to like you are some shit he just scapped off the bottom of his shoe. I was not happy with his SERVICE.

If I ever have the pleasure of meeting him again I will start it off with...Prosecutor...I want to make a veddy gooot deal...see if that goes over well with him...I think he do me a favor then because it seems to me that any person can walk into Edison police station and make a false claim and NOT have to prove it in court, not have to prove property damage because that is hard to prove when there is none. I got to go to court because some citizen does not have the common sense to move to a safer area and not block traffic and not follow me as I directed but can yell at me and say YOU CAN'T DOOO TAT...like I go around bumping people in cars out of my way all day long.(In America we call that a ACCIDENT) So in REALITY the prosecutor should have understood (after I explained) that the person I hit actually broke the law by not moving to safer spot after the accident in order to properly exchange info. First thing I do is pull alongside lady and talk to her to make sure okay, second thing I do is instruct her to move where we can safely exit vehicles and not get run over...finally I pull in front of her where she can directly see my plate and I am watching as everyone goes around her...I felt like I was dealing with a person her first outing in a car...ok, you need to put it in drive, take your foot off the brake and follow me about 200 meters down the overpass, apply brake and put in park. Very easily done. Now this lady abuse the system by wasting my time and the judges time and the prosecutors time by not stopping to check for damage and exchange info like other normal people would do...decides to report it later for some odd reason and files no claim whatsoever to my NJ Manufacturers ins. Now did I get her plate? no...because I thought she would be right behind me and I have nothing to go by at that point. The kicker here is Edison sent me a summons for NO INSURANCE, CARELESS DRIVING, AND LEAVING SCENE OF ACCIDENT...I had insurance and for the life of me never got a proper answer as to why I would get a summons for that...so I am supposed to trust a place run like that? BTW, I did get about 50 solicitaions from traffic lawyers offering their service...ahhh, the American way! ok, sorry for the long winded post! Do I want to go back to court to prove all this, pay for a lawyer?, loose MORE work time?, not really...so I will take the lousy two points and fines and a half of a day missed work and just try to not drive behind people who decide to safely stop at yield, then go, then suddenly stop in the middle of the road just after I safely yielded and applied some gas. Sheesh.
