East Bend resident nominated to attend U.S. Service Academy
United States Naval Academy student Grayson Fulp of East Bend was one of 50 students to be nominated by U.S. Senator Kay R. Hagan to attend a U.S. Service Academy this year.
Forsyth County Department of Social Services employees recognized for years of service are Amy Hardin and Lynn Linville; Celina Crawley, Ann Roberts, Sherri Cook, Kathryn Lawson and Shirley Phelps; Angelique Jefferson, Deborah Bates, Carolyn Thomas, Gail Stewart, Judy Hamilton and Paula Anderson.

N.C. Department of Transportation Secretary Gene Conti awarded a contract to resurface 48.5 miles of roads in Surry and Yadkin counties.
