The Twiggs County Sheriff's Office arrested a Dry Branch man Saturday night and charged him with shooting his son, Chief Deputy Billy Boney said.

A second day of combing a Twiggs County landfill for bodily remains of a Mercer University law school graduate turned up nothing of note Tuesday, Macon police said.

A landfill search for the possibly discarded remains of Lauren Giddings, the Mercer University law graduate who was killed and dismembered in late June, is expected to begin early next week, likely on Monday, the slain woman’s family says.
