Dracut deputy chief focus of inquiry

Chief Richardson wants us to believe this is how he wants every officer to act off duty. Ok, Chief pass me the bottle I not quite hammered enough to go in to that house yet. Gimme Me A Break - if this was another poor patrolman the "Drunk Deputy" would have had him fired.

By the way, what happened to the woman who was the victim of Domestic abuse? Did the "Drunk Deputy" give her shelter? How many other guns did this nut have in the house?

Ok stuttering taker, let's play this out. The man kills his girlfriend with the gun, the bikers kill the boyfriend and then everyone bitches and moans because the off duty cop could have prevented this. That would have been your take if things had gone differently. By the way, I'm sure the cops gave those 3 bikers a breathalyzer, or field sobriety test right? Because they're probably not drinking at the french club and then speeding over to play the knights in shining armor...oh nooo

Once again the Lowell Sun, decides who it will go after and who it stays away from. Isn't it interesting that a story as big as an alleged intoxicated Dracut Deputy Police Chief doesn't come to light until almost 2 months after the incident.
If it happened to be a former Lowell Deputy Chief, it would have been splashed over the pages for days unending. The Sun would have been saying things like why isn't the officer suspended while the investigation is ongoing?
You have a police officer that is trained to recognize what traits an intoxicated person exhibits, and he makes these observations and puts them in his report. You have a Superior Officer on the scene and he reports the actions of what appears to be an intoxicated individual, and finally the civilian people on the scene make observations of an intoxicated Deputy Chief, and it's just pushed aside, as if it is no big deal.
Once again the one sided yellow jounalism shines through for all to see. Shame on those that call themselves reporters of the news for those are people with integrity and that's something that is certainly lacking from the top to the bottom of the staff at the Lowell Sun Newsroom. Interesting to see if this Comment is printed as typed.

Does it ever stop? Dracut has become the biggest joke in the area... it's embarrassing...

Maybe the police should be out protecting their tax apying citizens instead of all this crap. My kids bus driver has been trying to get a cop at the bus stop since school started to catch all the people blowing by the bus while the kids are getting on in the morning. Rumor has it no cop is available (for the ten minutes it would take) because they are too busy doing details. What the hell do my taxes pay for if they don't have time to protect and serve these kids?

It's a matter of pride.Dirty Cops don't like lowley citizens telling them what to do.So when you suggest that a public service be performed they are at the station saying" f--- them, we aint servants". This attitude is another symptom of a corrupt police force. Corruption is like cancer, when you remove it you must get it all. The DPD should be closed down and indicted under a RICO statute. Let the State police take over until a real police force can be put in place...for the saftey of our children if nothing else.
