The events that the first DWCD Board set in motion created a legacy that exceeds what anyone in 1961 could have envisioned: The acres of land irrigated from the Dolores River have doubled from 35,000 to 70,000 acres.

Capron serves on several regional boards, including the Southwest Colorado Council of Governments, Southwest Regional Transportation Planning Commission, Region 9 Board and the Region 9 Loan Committee.

But to the people of Yellow Jacket, the picturesque, black-and-white post office located at the crossroads has been the center of their community for 96 years.
