Crime is crime. I see no need for the adjective 'hate' to be placed in front of it.

A gay man was killed. That would be murder, I'm guessing, and there are laws on the books to cover that. Do you think that the perpetrator would pause in the least to consider whether or not his act might be construed as a hate crime? LOL Not likely.

Hate crime legislation is stupid.

Nope. Sure don't. Is killing a man because he's gay worse than killing someone because they're being robbed, cheating with your spouse, or some such? Murder is murder - plain and simple.

This "hate crime" means that whoever did that murder,Killing the gay man in Atlanta,Did it because the killer particularly hated gay people,So they hated gays so bad that they wanted to kill one.Dont you see that hate motivated this killing?I think that is horible.

I see that hate motivated the killing. I do not see why this crime needs its own class. Certainly is not an effective deterrent, for sure. If that's the case then what's the point? Is it just to make our overly PC society feel better somehow?

I think they started classifying some of these crimes as terrorist and hate crimes after 9-11.In order to seperate the intensity of the crimes. Its like if someone finds out you are methodist and hates this group,And seeks you out and kills you for that reason alone.Or because you are white or black,And they dont like these colors so they kill you because of that.

I understand the intent. I just think it's silly.

Would the Oklahoma City bombing a hate crime? Under the current definition, I'm not sure it would be. And yet there is very little difference between that and 9/11 - a whole lotta tragedy.

A spade is a spade. Motivation should have nothing to do with it. Sure, accidental death is different than intentional. But beyond that there is no reason for such delineations.

Yes the Oklahoma city bombing was definately a hate crime. It has everything to do with the case of 9-11.Because a certain group of people hated so very much,And the hate became so intence that the hate caused these terrible acts.Hate can trully distroy you and also corupt you,Untill nothing is left of you but hate.

Hmmm...LOOK USE YOUR BRAIN! If you have a loved on murdered while being robbed and another loved one murdered because he/she is gay....its still MURDER and MURDER is USUALLY motivated by hate and pure EVIL. People hate alot of people.....gays,gothic people, rednecks, thugs, christians, atheists, whites, blacks, muslims, people with mullets.....you could go ON and On with this one but if they kill someone because of their hatred for something about them.......IT IS MURDER!

A hate crime is the very worst kind of crime. And when someone who has commited a hate crime stands before a judge the penalty will be much harder than say a domestic type crime. It is just so terrable to kill someone anyway. But to kill someone you do not even know,Because of race, religion,Sexual preferins,or anything that is really none of your bussiness,And you did it out of hate,Then you should never get out of jail. They need to lock folks away and through away the key when a hate crime is commited.

WRONG, they need to lock up anybody who murders with intent. I will tell you a crime that is worse than hate.....someone that harms a child....that is the WORSE kind of crime and if any crime should be considered the most horrific, it would be that one. MURDER IS MURDER, I doubt seriously anyone murders out of love.

Child abuse is running rampant nowadays,And child murder also.Wess, you are right about that.I think in the near future our state might no longer have the death penalty,I don't know if that would be right or wrong,Every time they put someone to death,I feel uncomfortable about that.I do feel that if they do away with the death penalty,There might be more killing.

I am going to tell McGyver on you and you will regret your statements in here. McGyver will tie you up with duct tape and scare you to death with a blood spattered weasel for not hating hate crimes.
