Crews from the Doniphan Fire Department responded to a fire Saturday evening just to the south of the town of Doniphan.

A 22-year-old Doniphan man is arrested and charged with attempted first-degree assault on an officer and using a weapon in the commission of a felony after he allegedly fired shots at police, who had been called to his home on a domestic dispute report.

Sheriff Jerry Watson says two deputies were sent to a farm northeast of Doniphan early Thursday morning.

Hall County officials say that right now it looks like Nebraska's county inheritance tax - a big source of revenue for them - will continue.
