A young gray whale, spotted by sightseers entangled in crab pot lines, has been freed after a four-hour rescue operation staged by Sausalito's Marine Mammal Center and the Coast Guard.

A group of local rescuers and federal officials have freed a whale that went into distress after getting entangled in a crab pot line.

Rescuers from the Marine Mammal Center and federal agencies freed a young gray whale entangled in crab pot lines near Dillon Beach on Monday afternoon.
