RIO RANCHO, N.M. - Letter grades have been handed out by the state Public Education Department to every New Mexico school.

The Track Fire is not only threatening homes in the Raton area it has now causing a new headache for thousands of others in northern New Mexico who are about to lose natural gas service.

Around 200 homes are being threatened by a 24,000-acre fire in the area of Raton Pass, west of Interstate 25.

Over the last 10 days, auditors from the New Mexico Public Education Department have poured through 10,000 files from 34 school districts as part of an unprecedented audit to ensure accurate reporting in enrollment.
